Situated on the charming Carrer de Pau Casals, just steps from Cambrils' vibrant sea boulevard, Restaurant Bar El Capi is a beloved bar & grill that serves up an authentic taste of Tarragona’s coastal cuisine. This family-favorite spot has become a quintessential destination for locals and visitors alike, thanks to its inviting atmosphere and expertly prepared seafood dishes that celebrate the region’s rich maritime heritage.
El Capi’s menu is a celebration of fresh, flavorful ingredients drawn directly from the Mediterranean. Diners routinely rave about their generous, richly textured paella, brimming with the freshest seafood — a dish steeped in tradition and bursting with vibrant tastes of saffron and sea. The sardines (sardinas) arrive perfectly grilled, their smoky char complementing the tender flesh beneath crisp skin, evoking the essence of a Mediterranean summer. For those seeking lighter bites, the pescadito frito is a masterpiece of crispy, golden-fried little fish, delivering a delightful crunch followed by moist, tender morsels inside.
The restaurant’s ambiance is relaxed yet bustling, capturing the warmth and friendliness that many have come to cherish over years of visits. Alejandro Flavián fondly recalls a lifetime of summers here, a testimony to El Capi’s consistent quality and its place as a comforting culinary anchor in Cambrils. The welcoming staff, often praised for their efficiency and warmth, make every visit feel personal. Particularly noteworthy is Gustavo, a favorite among regulars, whose attentive service perfectly matches the laid-back charm of the venue.
Whether you're stopping by for a leisurely Sunday lunch or enjoying a family meal complete with a toddler-friendly set menu, El Capi strikes an ideal balance — combining traditional flavors with a thoughtful approach to service and value. The reasonably priced dishes pack bold, fresh flavors that leave a lasting impression, making it easy to understand why Richard Darlington and Melissa Griffin keep returning year after year.
From the first bite of sumptuous seafood to the convivial, effortless vibe that permeates the space, Restaurant Bar El Capi embodies the spirit of coastal Catalonia—a place where every meal feels like a celebration of local flavors, community, and joyful memories. Incredible seafood restaurant near the sea boulevard of Cambrils! I have been going to this restaurant every year since I was a little kid. We keep coming back because the food is amazing and it is really close to where I spend my beach vacation during Summer. We ordered 2 servings of paella, 2 servings of sardines (sardinas) , 2 more of fried little fish (pescadito frito), and finally 2 more of Capi squid (Calamaf Capi). For drinks, we ordered 2 1-liter beer jars and 3 water bottles. The total price for a big dinner for five people was €80.12 which is not expensive for the area and the quality of the food. Totally recommended if you are in the Tarragona-Barcelona area!

We went as a family with a two year old. The restaurant catered for all. The set menu was very reasonable and the El Capi paella had generous amounts of sea food.
